Welcome to my fourth and final Mull Of Kintyre chords lesson. This is the last video of my easy Beginner Guitar Bootcamp series where I’m pulling together everything you’ve learned so far. It’s super exciting that you made it through my series and you’re learning your very first song, congratulations! Thank you for trusting me as your teacher. In this lesson we will look at four easy things to keep in mind when learning your first song:

ACTION STEPS
Step 1. Take some time to look up some songs with chords on the internet. See that all you get is the lyrics written out and the chords above. This is a fake sheet. Now take a look at the the chart I provide in the video. That’s what’s really going on and serves as the blueprint of the song. The chords are written on top, the beats or strums, and the lyrics below. Notice that there are three down strums or beats per bar. This tells us that the songs is in 3/4 time.
Step 2. Listen to the song and clap along or tap your foot to the beat. Try to feel that the song is in 3/4 or that the beats are divided up into 3’s. Count 1,2,3 1,2,3 as you listen to the song.
Step 3. Look at the first and the last chord of the first chorus. Notice that the song starts on A and ends on A.
Step 4. Practice playing in 3/4. Play the A chord and do three down strums, counting 1,2,3 1,2,3 1,2,3 and so on.
